The administration fee is R2100 and is inclusive of all eBooks, admin fees, certain practical tasks and SACAI registration fees. This is a once off annual fee.

Homeschooling is  recognised by law as an alternative to traditional schooling.  Grades 4 to 9 parents are required to register their children as home schooled with their Provincial Department of Education. Swales Online Academy will  provide you with a portfolio of evidence to support your child’s progress in the CAPS curriculum. For Grades 10 to 12, we are registered with www.sacai.org.za which is one of three examination boards accredited with Umalusi.

We supply all students with their required eBooks, this cost is included in the administration fee.

All assessments are done at the students home/ venue of choice. Parents will receive an invigilation form and will have to nominate someone who will be responsible for invigilating the student during FORMAL assessments. This invigilator will have to remain in the venue throughout the duration of the assessment to ensure that exam guidelines are being met. Secondary invigilation will take place on the part of the educator. All students will write their assessments while on a live video stream. This is necessary to ensure the integrity of all assessments.

The teachers who are responsible for the setting of the assessment/exam will mark.

A Master class is a live lesson between the students and teacher. This lesson focuses on problem areas and is used to introduce new topics.

A structured lesson is made up of a pre-recorded video by the relevant teacher with the addition of quizzes and/or content to be completed for the lesson.

Students video themselves completing the practical task and then upload it to our Learner Management System. Some practical’s will take place in a live lesson format should the teacher request to do so.

Yes, every student receives a report termly.

Yes, all our educators have completed their degree. Furthermore, all our educators have undergone training on how to be an effective online educator. Staff development takes place on a termly basis.
